On a dark and stormy night, the majestic Hotel Europe stands tall, a beacon of light and refuge amidst the relentless downpour. As the rain cascades over Gastown, a lone woman with a red umbrella adds a touch of vibrancy to the scene, painting a picture of resilience and beauty in the face of nature’s fury.

Drenched in Vancouver’s notorious winter rain, I was determined to find something to contrast the particularly stormy night. I stood like a degenerate paparazzi hoping to capture something to represent the perfect balance of darkness and light. Suddenly, a woman with a red umbrella emerged from the shadows – or possibly the bar across the street – and it was just enough to add the splash of romance and beauty that this photo needed.
