Dawn’s Floating Embrace 16×48″ Canvas

The city awakens to a surreal sight as a cloud inversion envelops the downtown core in a dreamy veil of mist. A truly breathtaking start to the day as the skyline of Vancouver appeared to float above the clouds for a few brief moments.

During the winter, cloud inversions like this in Vancouver can appear for days at a time. But they’re not always this low, in this exact position, right at sunrise with a glowing pink sky. The sun was just popping up over the horizon to illuminate the downtown buildings which made for a spectacular scene. I shot hundreds of photos over the course of an hour or so as the clouds rolled by, and this panorama ended up being the absolute perfect combination of these surreal conditions.
